'93 ECU Upgrade
Hi guys
This question has probably been asked a million times before, but i'm kinda new to the site.
I have a '93 WRX, which has the 240bhp ECU. I have been told that there is a company who can change the chip in it, or change to ECU itself to to later 260bhp unit.
Is this easy to do, and is it actually worth doing???

yes that swap works.The 96 imports had the 260 bhp Z4 ecu. Staright swap.
You could also concider VOS chip from OZ which is about 280 bhp and maps car for uk fuel. Does leave the CEL on though.
Z4 is a safe bet if used with correct fuel - optimax
VOS i dont know history but i am running one with no probs so far. I just use normal super with that.
Z4 = 150 - 200 complete ecu swap
VOS = 150 - needs to be soldered into your original ecu via chip holder

Was thinking of asking this question myself, i have a 93 wrx Ra, not sure what ecu is in it, is there an easy way to check if its the standard 240 one? As i always run on Optimax plus millers booster, a swap to the VOS ecu would be a good idea. Whats CEL stand for as well?
