Lots, they dangerously up the boost, and remove the fuel cut while not adjusting fuelling or ignition timing. Very clever things!
More power can be gained from a well set up Dawes manual boost controller.

What mods do you have?
I wouldn't have a superchip if it was free I think the boost is set within the chip, where a manual controller is about £40 and can be set to where you like. 18 psi will be touching the boost / fuel cut. Think 17psi is the reccomended limit on a Dawes.

Dont mess with the boost an an STi, not advised without a remap ECU.
Spend a fair amount of time reading up on the STi, and the right mods. You cant just go slapping on cheap and nasty bits to get a power gain with these cars. It will bite you in the ***

No. There's a fair chance that a full decat will give some det at high speed on an STi. I had, as have many others and the solution was an upgrade pump and reg. Its fine at normal speeds though The filter may do maore harm than good too. You have to be careful with an STi. It needs to be run on optimax and octane booster or you might well blow it up.
What are you trying to achieve?? There's all sorts of routes to getting more power. If I had just bought an STi, I would be fitting a boost gauge, Knocklink and then look at a decat in combination with a pump and reg, and a good panel filter. You will see around 300 BHP and SAFE power. From there you can look at a new ECU etc. Others will suggest a different route, but thats my way
Again, do some reading on what you have bought.

don't mess about with zener diodes, unless you know what you are doing, or fancy spending around £4000 for a engine rebuild.
What you should be looking at is decat downpipe, decat centre and a decent back box, follow this up with a panel filter such as the STI version, green cotton or K&N, don't get an induction (Cone) kit unless your car has an aftermarket ECU which does away with the standard Subaru MAF sensor, and a dawes device, as Dark Blue Mark says, get it set up properly and the car will put a big smile on your face. depending on the year of your car, you can put a scooby ECU chip in, or on later cars, a remap.
Unless you are willing to pay big money for serious upgrades, don't use zener diodes, or resistors from Maplins.
If in doubt give someone like Knowlesy from Xtreme Scoobies a call.

Exactly what it says
High revs and high speed with a decat, and the fuel pump doesn't seem to cope and you start to get "detonation". Lot more exhaust gas flow / less back pressure with a decat. Works fine on UK cars.
