Unhappy Starter Motor Sticking.....

I assume my starter motor is sticking.....

Car starts OK most of the time. Sometimes, all I get is a click but no engine turn. If I wait for say 2-5 mins, it sometimes starts up again....

Is it the starter sticking as I can hear the solenoid kicking in ????

If it is, can I get it repaired (in/around Leicester)???

Or can I get a replacement and from where ???

Need to sort this out before the rally in Wales next weekend !!!!!!

I had a sticky starter but only knew it was sticking because after it had engaged it would crunch/grind for a split second afterwards.
for a few times it was ok to fix, but recently I bit the bullet and bought one.

to fix I think we, disconnected the battery, removed the starter, liberally sprayed wd40, replaced and then it stopped sticking.
got to the point though where a quick spray wouldnt fix it so I got a newish one and replaced.
saying that, your symptoms are not anything like mine so are you sure its a sticking starter?

I thought it may be the battery, but it 'seems' fine. Will get someone to test it tonight....

Sounds like a problem with the starter's solenoid to me (it's the smaller cylinder mounted on the side of the starter motor). It could be a fault with the solenoid it's self or more likely a bad earth in that circuit. If it's not moving the full amount nessesary to engage the motor you will still hear a clicking sound.
