03WRXPPP.
Last night while overtaking I f*cked my change from 3rd to 4th at about 6.3k revs. Horrbile crunching ensued and a double declutch was needed to resolve my error.

Now at anything over 6k revs the gearbox feels very reluctant to get into 4th from 3rd with a mild mechanical crunch.

Any ideas what the problem is? (Apart from my lack of skill)

BTW
I did used to have this problem with 5th gear from new but the dealer cured it by overfilling the gearbox.

sound's like your clutch is starting to go this is the symptoms that i had before mine was replaced !!!

There is a possability that you may have damaged your synchros-or it could only be that you need to change your gear oil-put some Castrol Syntrax in it-its bloody good stuff,and can even work on mildly worn synchros-For some strange reason,it can take about 100/200 miles of driving for it to really work though.Its highly regarded stuff in the Scooby community.

Took it to the dealer and they reckon its prob the synchro. Its booked in on monday for some exploratory work.
