How a knocklink ruined my fun
Dates and power are estimates.
Buy MY94 WRX Wagon (TD04 turbo) in May
May 2004 - Standard = 220ps
Mid may - fit STi backbox + boost gauge = 225ps
End May - Fit decat downpipe and decat centre = 240ps (+quick spool)
Late June - fit VOS chip +K&N panel = 260ps + overboosting
Late June - fit dawes and new coilpacks = 260ps
Early July - remove VOS and dawes = 240ps
Early Aug - install TD05 + Z4 (still have decat) = 280 ps
Mid Aug - reinstall VOS chip = 300 ps
Mid Aug - fit knocklink
Late Aug - remove VOS chip =280ps
Early Sept - remove decat downpipe =265ps (+slow spool)
Knocklink much happier now, but not such a big grin on my face.
I've only had 40 mins driving it since re-cat and its probably plenty powerful enough (actually seems to have better pre-boost pickup with the cat). But once boost kicks in the difference is quite great (same as comparing driving alone and driving with 3 fat passengers). It is a lot quieter though which is good in some ways and not so good in others.
Still managed to get a Red on the knocklink once but it was warm and the ECU was just reset so needs to learn crap UK optimax..?..
Maybe I should just put the decat back on and risk it for a biscuit. It is getting colder afterall.
maybe its just gear noise...?...

At least the knocklink looks good now as I have istalled it in the dash
Forgot to mention all the other normal scooby stuff (eg. lambda sensor x 1, MAF sensor x1, MAP sensor x 1). double platinum spark plugs (7's), 4-pot brakes etc etc.
What a great hobby.
Fuel pump next.
Then headers and up-pipe, refit downpipe and get remap eh!

below. Easier to see there for me, and didn't seem to be enough space above.
Was a bit of a quicky job, and ended up with the LEDs in a line coming out from the dash as I couldn't fit it in across. Couldn't be arsed to move individual LEDs or anything. Still, it is at a slight angle from driving position and it works great and looks pretty good. Big red at front of course.
