Default MY99 Boost problem

i've got a uk my99 which has got a tek3 on it, tonight driving back from a mates the car suddenly lost power and would only run 0.5bar boost pressure instead of 1.3bar, it wouldn't go above 0.5 in any gear then all of a sudden it was back to normal boosting 1.3bar, the problem came and went a few times on my way home, anyone got any ideas?

Boost control solenoid getting stuck closed. If there was no CEL light then pretty sure thats what it's going to be. It's the blue thing on the drivers side suspension strut.

Clean it out with carb cleaner. While your there do all the joining hoses.

Just my experiences......

May be worth checking the wastegate actuator mechanism. My own MY99 TEK 3 had spates of overboost, then little or no boost continuously; and when I checked the wastegate arm by pushing it by hand it was jamming (Open??) - managed to free off by removing turbo heat sheild (for better access), and repeatidly operating from end to end (quite tight to move anyway under spring tension). Advice I was given initially was to check spring clip on wastegate mechanism, as this apparently can become detached (mine was OK). Prior to this I had already cleaned the boost solenoid with no joy, so may be worth checking if cleaning solenoid does not work.
