Intercooler hose problems..help!

my mates intercooler pipe keeps splitting and he is having problems with it. Any solution on this would be appreciated.

More details, like is he trying to put a 76 mm pipe on a 85 mm intercooler, has it recently been changed, is it too short, are the right clips being used......
