Hi anyone have 18s with 215/35/18 tyres and is it a nightmare profile. Ive a set with 225/40/18 but i dont think they will fit. Any ideas ?

I think 225 40 18 are going to be too big ie the rolling radius will become larger and put the gearing out and possibly cause the arches to scrape.
Not sure why you think it might be a problem size, but it was perfect on an sti 5 I had.

I'm running 225/40/18 on my classic STi3. I bought a brand new set of Superleggara's from ebay so I made them fit...yes the rolling radius isn't quite right but the speedo doesn't read properly anyway as when it was imported someone stuck on a UK clock. As for clearance, front is fine, back rubs on the rear shock spring cups slightly - I took a hammer and a 12" 1/2 drive extension and fettled the spring cups to get clearance, didn't actually take much.

It can tramline a bit but you get used to it..........you have to be careful on some B Roads and also in lane 1 on the motorway as my car has a tendency to find the ruts caused by the Lorries!! especially on the M1!
215/35 is definately the profile that most matches the original rolling radius - plus this tyre combo is very cheap........... and much cheaper than 225/35........which tend to rub the inner arches (a lot!)
Having had Toyo's that cost about £115-£120 for 215/35 (or about £150 for 225/35) I switched to Falken FK451's at circa £95 on 215/35 - the handling in the wet is far better than the Toyo's and is comparable in the dry
