Default Rattling noise from steering wheel?

I have a rattling noise coming from what sounds like inside my steering wheel, it can only be heard when medium/hard accelerating through 2750-3500 rpm.

Does anyone know if I can take the steering wheel apart?(its an MY00 Classic) even if its just take the horn cover off. I know its got an airbag, so not sure how much I can actually do with it, I know if I talk to the local dealer they are just going to say fit a new steering wheel.

Thanks for any help

with car stationary, using the ball part of your palm hit the steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position to see if you can ascertain where the rattling is coming from. Could be the piece of plastic under the steering wheel height adjuster...
