Question bonnet vent blanking plates

hi on my95, if i remove these does it ,1 improve cooling,or 2 create hotspots,or 3 become a security risk,cheers

Improves cooling (you should see the heat haze that comes out of them at a standstill) but be careful what components are underneath as they will get wet, I had to move one of my (aftermarket) coils and alarm sounder.

Can't quite see how removing the blanking plates would be a security risk though...

monitor the under bonnet temps in the area before and after because some have reported they actually rise in the area (because it acts as an exhaust and all the hot air in the area is drawn to that vent)

Best to get a mini scoop, especially if you have an induction kit.

what if you have an induction kit

will this matter ?

But dont mini scoops over the induction just direct rain straight into the filter?

function over form, methinks.
better off dealing with a few odd looks and the potential to look horrid than to have a hot air filter feeding the system.

isnt it...?

of course you could try ducting the air from the front of the car to the filter.

thanks all,yes i have an induction kit but was thinking of extending the pipe with an open pick up somewhere in the front bumper grill.
