Unhappy lack of power strange hissing.

as above pulled onto the motorway and procceded to accelarate but as it got to about 4000rpm it seemed to lose a conciderable amount of power and this was followed by a strange hissing noise(not the same as when it comes on boost). the motor in question is a P1.

any ideas as to why?????????

thanks trb

Check the intercooler to Turbo and i/c to throttle body hoses...I had the very same problem with a WRX previously and found it to be a loose i/c to turbo hose. Check the jubilee clips etc.

turbo to intercooler and intercooler the throttle body are he usual suspect, tighten the clips up with a screwdriver and see if it helps.

If you are running above standard boost it may be worth changing the standard TMIC to Throttle body Pipe for a Samco/Silicon replacement as it will happen again as the originals weaken under boost causing the jubilee clips to slip off as they balloon

Cheers
