Question DIY I/C Spray

Hi all

Thinking about trying to make an ic spray on a MY99 UK Turbo. My initial idea is to use the headlight jets, simply re-route them to the IC and there it is a fully working IC spray.

Can anyone see any probs with this. Obviously it will be using the windscreen washer water, with the windscreen cleaner in it. Would long term application of this to the IC cause any problems? (in terms of residue etc.)

Just after some other opinions really. Cheers

Dave.

Cool

Dave,

We made one for our race car using the washer bottle from a wagon as it has two pumps, the rear washer pump being higher pressure due to distance. we bought a vacumn pressure switch and fitted this off the manifold and a dash switch to turn it on or off. The only real expensive bit was the jets, we bought genuine STI7 water spray jets as the give a good spread.

As for the washer water, we run ours clean with no additives but for the road I am sure you could get away with occasionally rinsing the IC. If you want a drawing let me know.

Just done this on my MY97 5dr, I got an aftermarket washer bottle and pump from ebay for £10, took me ages to get the jets. eventially found the PERFECT jets at halfords, they are a new type of washer jet made by ripspeed and are £5.99 for a pair. I only used one. I then used a pressure operates switch to spray at 10psi (available from aquamist)
got a second hand switch from scoobynet.total cost was

£10 pump & bottle
£5.99 jets
£2 hose
£20 switch
£25 pressure switch

Dave. I did the same as your thinking about. there is a joint by the battery that you can split, bore of pipe is 10mm so you will need to bush it down to suit windscreen wash pipe. Believe it or not I used a felt tip pen body it was 10mm outside diameter and the washer tube fitted tightly inside. I purchased pipe, tee piece and non return valve from Halfords and sti nozzles from Scoobymania.
