yeah i know, its the job i hate the most
i really badley hate that fooken job
you can buy a cone that the boot slides over onto the shaft, i might try it from the gear box end
tempted to buy a second hand shaft thats complete and just swap the ******* over

for anybody else whos wondering
http://www.bailcast.com/bailframe.htm
£9.99 +p&p from there website for the boot, but i got one of there boots from the local motorfactors for £8.99??
anyway, the "cone" idea looks pretty good, im not convinced by the special spray to help it slide over the cone, me thinks mr WD40 will be coming to the party.
im planning to take the shafts off at the gear box end and just slide the boot over on the cone and slide it all the way to the hub end
should be pretty easy i think??
gotta be worth £6 inc postage for a LOT less work

ok i have just done it
without the cone thing
quick and easy steps
jack up and remove front wheel
slacken bottom shocker bolt, remove top one
knock out driveshaft retaining pin @ the gearbox end
pull shaft clear of the box
push the new cv boot over the end of the shaft (this takes sum time) i used a bailcast boot which is pretty stretchy, i also used a screw driver or 2 with sum tape on the end (to stop cuts and nicks) as leavers to help me, once its on the main section of the inner cv joint just roll it allong till it drops onto the drive shaft
refit inner cv jointto gear box and fit retaining pin
refit top shocker bolt and tighten along with the bottom one
pull cv boot allong to the joint and unroll the boot, fit clips and cv boot grease
jetwash under arch to clean all the mess
leave to dry and come indoors and cook sum poached eggs on toast
far better method then removing the cv joint from the outer hub and upsetting track rod ends and such
