Default how easy is it to adjust the tension on the fan belt?

Had a new fan belt replaced at last service and it squeaks when you first start it up, so I think its a little too tight, so is it a case of loostening a few bolts or taking it back to the garage to get sorted.

Generally squealing is a sign of to loose or worn, Roughly you should be able to turn the belt a 1/4 turn on its axis with force.

To adjust, loosen main bolt that hols the alternator to the engine bracket (12mm) On the front side of the engine, infront of the alternator , hiding behind the belt & infront of the adjuster screw (hard to describe without Pics) is another 12mm bolt , loosen this one, Then screw the adjusment bolt (12mm again) which runs downwards at the side of the alternator, in or out for tight & slack, Tighten all back up & check tension

Fans are electric on scoobs.

The belt you actually mean is the Alternator/power steering belt or the aircon one if you have aircon.

Talking

of course I meant the fan belt! If you look closely there is a little 3mm toothed belt connected to the electric fan to keep it turning. Everyone knows that, come on lads.
