Default O2 sensor in a 93 year car

Hi all

A question!! On a 93 year car the O2 sensor is on the exhaust manifold on the drivers side......Is there any reason this cannot be relocated to the downpipe?
Reason is I have some headers to fit that don't have the thread for the sensor and it would be easier to put it in the downpipe than to put it into the headers.

Cheers

Most people do this as the later model O2 sensor (short wire) is much cheaper and easier to get to.
