Default Peak boost?

I had my Defi BF's fitted at Scoobyclinic (Excellent service ) yesterday and on my drive home I noticed a few things.

In fifth and sixth gear peak boost was getting as high as 1.5bar!!

It peaked at around 1.1 in 1st and 2nd and around 1.3 in 3rd and 4th.

Peak boost also came in at 3200rpm in sixth whereas it's around 3,800rpm in the other gears. Is this normal?

I have an MY03 STi. My only modifications are TSL firestorm back box, TSL decatted centre section, STi panel filter. I have left the downpipe cat in at the moment for fear of overboost.

I would invest in a Knocklink mate,

If your car is peaking at 1.5bar with a standard map you may be getting a lean fuel mix, resulting in DET...

Cheers for the advice mate.

It's next on my list of modifications before I fully decat and remap it.

I can't hear anything that sounds like detonation/pinking but then I don't really know what I'm listening for.

Have you had the car from new?

Sounds like it's been re-mapped according to those boost readings...

Mines pulling 1.35 bar from 3-6.5k with an Ecutek'd ecu, so to get those figures either the guage is incorrect (unlikely) or somewhere along the line the ecu has been re-trained...

As for hearing DET, I filled up with Esso SUL the other day, and my knocklink went crazy, with no other indication of anything going wrong, noise, performance etc...

Money well spent, and will keep you informed on whether the car is doing harm to itself.

I haven't had it from new. It was 5 months old when I bought it. It was owned by a woman before and was completely stock with only 8000 miles on the clock.

It's got all the characteristics of a stock STi map i.e. it bogs down easily when pulling off and is gutless below about 3500rpm.

The peak boost in 5th/6th is about 1.45bar but this then drops down to around 1/1.1 through the rest of the rev range.

Could the TSL exhaust be causing this boost spike??

I will definitely be investing in a knock link soon
