I have to collect my car from down south and it is heavily overfuelling. Its a 300 odd mile trip back home.

Could there be much damage done to the engine in that journey home?

I am getting lambda sensor, walboro f/pump and adjustable regulator as a starter.

Just worried about the miles as I know the impreza is not keen on extra fuel.

Depends how much it is overfuelling.

If very bad it will put out black smoke and foul the plugs in no time, and hardly move.

Hi John,

The car was driving pretty much as normal - never noticed any puffs of smoke at all. I've been told its overfuelling badly - no more info than that I'm afraid. Andy told me to get the regulator changed as its probably seen better days, and I've read about the lambda sensor causing extra fuelling also - so I though these are the best two to tackle, even to get me to the 1000 miles stage relatively safely.

Car engine has just been rebuilt, but before Andy F will touch it for checking set up etc.. I need to run in the 1000 miles. Is there anything I can do to reduce it prior to them, and a way of checking it - other than above. I'm really concerned about driving it 'as is' and causing damage, especially over run in miles.

over fuelling can lead to bore wash. this will contaminate the oil and the big ends will not be your best friend. (bore wash is where unburnt fuel floods past the rings and into the sump)

chances of this are slim.
