Error code 12, starter switch

Error code 12, starter switch
Should an uplugged MAF give an error code of 12?? I unplugged it to see if the ecu would give a MAF error code.
I'm having problems with my car see this thread http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=346860
I'm waiting for the dealers to get back to me with a price for a new MAF. With everything plugged to start with no error codes were shown.
Spoken to the dealers and they think that it could be the MAF.
(now carrying out an ECU reset).
