info needed please
im thinking of buying a new engine, the thing is i need to know how much it will cost me for it to be
1, fitted?
2, remap?
3, and anything else i will need to do?
the engine will be a 2.5
and my car is a 97 forester s/tb import standard apart from scoobysport b/box and panel filter.
so really what i am asking is how much will it all come to in total.
cheers folks

you don't mention what turbo, injectors, etc etc you are planning to use?
Or what the intended result is of the engine swap?
Power? Torque? Reliability? Driveability?
If you're looking at putting in the 2.5 and your existing turbo and injectors (which would seem a little pointless, TBH, as other than less lag and more torque it seems an expensive mod? If you're going to make the change, I'd at LEAST factor in some bigger injectors, fuel pump and reg, just to give you some 'safety' headroom whilst mapping. But to be honest, I'd be tempted to go for a larger turbo, and capitalise on the engine a bit better. I would guess that for just the swap, the map and the improved fuelling you're going to be looking at labour into the region of £3000, though I am sure it COULD be done cheaper.

Try phoning a decent engine man/firm. Several spring to mind from recent threads. For the 2.5, think 300bhp and what you'd have to spend to get a Forrester there reliably, then add a fudge factor, say 10%.
Having written that, you can get a used STi V7 motor for £2,300 from Import Car Parts. If you get the 2.5 for say £1,250 (ish), figure on about £5K for getting it in your car and set-up. That's £1,500 for turbo, mapping and some building and installation which is low IMO. Probably add another £1,000 for luck.
I don't think your current gearbox would like it too much either, so add another wedge for that when it goes.
