STi, Green, JR Racing & K&N panels = almost imperceivable performance hike, minor induction noise increase, reliability and cost effective.

Induction kit = MAF failure (due to vibration and oil contamination), power drop (due to inducing hot air and lots of engine bay $hite), expensive and pointless unless already over 380bhp.

Yer pays yer money..........

dvantages of the standard system

# The standard air scoop is mounted high in the engine bay. This makes it resistant to ingress of water from puddles in wet weather. The design of the inner wing snorkel helps to remove any water that is drawn in by this scoop.

# Air drawn in is cool, since the air comes from the edge of the engine bay, and at speed, all air will be drawn from outside.

# The standard system is very quiet, since the resonator in the wing helps to filter out the noise from the air flow.

# The standard ECU is calibrated to work perfectly with the standard induction system.

# Unless it is necessary to produce more than 350 BHP, the standard induction system is quite adequate - all high power Japanese Impreza models use the standard intake system. The exception is the STI S202 which uses different pipework.

Has any 'normal usage' road drivers had any problems going through deep puddles on the road at speed?

Its got to be an induction kit, much better air flow, that nasty air-box is so restrictive! Dont bother drilling it, just get rid of it altogether!! Nice induction noise, and as for the MAF failure, I've never had a problem on my 2 scoobys, and neither have any of my friends?! Also adds slightly more BHP, but hardly noticeable....

I've got 2 panels filters here and an induction kit. All new, ordered in a frenzy!!

Question, so how on earth will the MAF vibrate itself to death if it is going to be doing the exact same thing, panel or full kit?

What is the difference? Really?

And surely oil will get through a panel filter in much the same way as a kit filter? For most with out the plastic air intake from outside, your going to be sucking up air from in side the engine bay, are you not?

And....... the air through a panel filter cant be much different in temp than a kit, can it?

Does anyone have actual proof, figures, paperwork etc for this?

How much is a new MAF sensor anyhow and can you get them from your local friendly Partco etc?

Has anyone replaced their standard maf with another brand? if so which mafs will fit?

Specially the 01/02 bug eye.

I thought there were some Rolling Road results in which a Scoob pushing 300BHP ran with a Panel and then an Induction kit and (from memory) the panel and oem box came out on top ??
