Question Clyinder heads to go on a 2.5

Currently I have a MY00 UK turbo with standard heads, looking to upgrade to 2.5 transplant so was going to get some better heads to go on it.

Questions:

What is the difference between the UK turbo and the STi V3,4,5,6 etc heads? Is it just the cams? Whats this I hear about hydraulic lifters -explain?

What about using my heads with V3 Sti cams?

Is it worth getting them ported/polished, worked on etc to improve power is is this not really worth it for £/bhp

Which heads would you reccommend and will they fit straight on the 2.5? (told same fitment as the MY00 UK)

All other bits are ready to go on 2.5 apart from gearbox cause I dont think my 5-speed will take it

V3 and 4 are phase 1 engine V5 and 6 are phase 2 and the heads are different . If you want to fit phase 1 heads you would have to change the inlet manifold and rewire throttle sensor and idle speed controll valve , you would be better off fitting V5 and 6 heads or fitting the cams from them into your heads .
Early heads (upto 96) where fitted with self adjusting hydraulic tapits which with higher rpm could over pump themselves opening the valves all the time , shimmed tapits are the way to go for higher rpm.
If money was no object then I would fit complete V5 or 6 heads , but if you are on a bugdet then your current heads will fit
