Default Brake Pads

Alright guys. Needing a set of front brake pads for my MY04 WRX. Thinking about moving away from the standard pads to more uprated ones.

Any ideas of the different makes available for my car, best place to get them and rough estimate of prices. Not looking to spend a fortune.

I was also wondering about fitting braided hoses, is it worth the extra cost. where could i get these at a reasonable price also. If i did fit the braided hoses and pads, would the fluid also need to be changed to something better than standard DOT4

Thanks in advance folks.

After hearing what happened at your last track day I would defo be at the very least putting DOT 5.1 fluid in the system.
Pads, most popular are DS2500, Pagid an EBC CERAMIC although I still dont trust EBC pads myself
Look to pay roughly £130 for pads ( based on DS2500 ie the ones I have)
Braided hoses are worth it IMHO as it removes any spongieness in the pedal, its a minute differance but a welcome one
Theres a guy on here STOCKCAR (www.asperformance.com is his company I think) I believe his name is that is good with fellow scoobynetters when they need brakes, Id ask his opinion too.

Hi spooks, you heard then. Was feckin surprised to be honest, had only done a few laps and the pedal was touching the floor, it was like sticking your foot onto a soggy sponge. As the night went on it came to a point where they just would not bloody work, foot compressed to the deck and not bloody stopping. It ruined my night to be honest, had no confidence in the car.

Where did you get yours from spooks. I have not done a set of pads for a few years now, how easy is it with the 4 pots.

I'm in the middle of doing this at the moment. I'm going for EBC after reading John Felsteads report here . From reading many reports it seems that the Mintex 1144 (road) and 1155 (track/fast road) are very good but extremely dusty, and the Ferodo DS2500 are very prone to squeal, but again are a very good choice.

Have a look at J W Racing , they do a kit called "Racing Stoppers" which contains DS2500's, 5.1 fluid and braded hoses for 205 inc vat. or you could buy separately with EBC's, Goodridge lines and Ferodo Dot5.1 fluid for under 180

Cheers, CB.
