I rang round not so long ago and got a few quotes with some different solutions.
1. Bottom end rebuilt with Crank regrind, about £2k. Dubious as to whether outlaying the cash this would be the best option.
2. Bottom end rebuilt with new Crank. Between £2.3k and £3.6k depending on extras (Cosworth pistons etc).
3. Replacement engine, these varied between £2.2k and £3k. API
4. Pick up engine from breakers yard and get it fitted, did n't get this priced up as it felt a little "russian rouletteish" to me.
Luckily I had the extra option of sending the car back to the dealer.
best of luck.

Whatever you do and whoever you get to do it DO NOT let anyone grind the crank, it is an absolute no-no on a Subaru if you want it to last.
