It's not necessary to remove the cam sensor - only the crank sensor.

You car take the plugs out if you like - to ease the load on the crank whilst getting the oil round the bigends.

Just prefill the filter, disconnect the crank sensor, crank it over for a few short bursts until the oil light goes out, run it up then check level.

Easy!

Cheers dude.

Sounds straight forward enough. Might leave the plugs bit as I can see that dragging the job out too long

What are the effects of not removing the sensor then? I didn't do it on my last oil change and all seemed ok.

Cheers

Did my first Scooby oil change last week - theres a few things Id advise.

1) Theres no need to pull the connector RIGHT OFF the crank sensor - you only need to break the contact - looks like it would be very fiddly to get it right off and then back on again - unless you have very small hands

2) The oil light MIGHT NOT go out when you're cranking with sensor disconnected - Mine didn't (light went out after reconnecting though)

3) With car on ramps, I placed catch container under sump nut and removed. The old oil bounced (if liquid can bouce) off my container and onto the driveway - 3 litres of BLACK oil down my drive way
Have a GOOD container ready - the old stuff comes outta there pretty quickly

4) MY01+ - you'll get a CEL for a while due to sensor disconnect - your Subaru dealer will probably tell you you have a fault when they next connect their diagnostics equipment to your car - mine did.

Carefull not to fill above F on dipstick - bad move on a Scooby!
