Question Service Items

I have a '00 MY turbo which will be due it's 60000/4yr service fairly soon, having read and absorbed all the posts on oil changing i would rather do the job myself to know it is done correctly (and save a few quid). Now, where is the best place to get the service items to do the service? And what are the best parts with respect to plugs and gearbox/diff oils and air filter ( I will use genuine oil filters as supplied by my frindly, local dealer )? I would prefer to use Castrol as I use Castrol RS 10w60 in the engine and trust their products.

Any thoughts?

Glen

I've got an MY00 just turned 50K

Jobs I've done at the weekend:

New MAF sensor - about £65 +VAT ?
New Lamda Sensor - £45 inc

Jobs for this weekend:

New plugs - NGK 7Bs (car is modded a bit) - £45
Castrol 10/60 X 5L - £36
Castrol Syntrax X5L - £36 ('box and rear diff)
Oil filter (haven't got it yet so don't know price)

Air filter is K&N so will stay.

Oil from Castrol Classic, MAF from Sub dealer, Lamda, plugs, filter from Local Factors.

Also recently changed front discs and pads - Discs @ £90 from SAP and Pads were £30 from local factors - almost cheaper than pads alone from Sub.

Cheers Edd
have just replaced Lambda and MAF, My car is also slightly modded (full decat, Ecutek 1), am wondering about air filter, don't want to go induction kit route tho'
Is that the total numbers/letters for the plugs (NGK 7B), and are they uprated from std?
Is the gear oil listed as Syntrax Universal 1 litre @£7.99 on their website

Glen

You want NGK PFR7B's the std plugs are 6's.

You can replace your filter with a panel filter, such as a K&N. Have a search around, there are some threads on panel filters.

I think the new priced OEM oil filters are around £5.50.

If you need a good panel filter why not go to this thread http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=338174 for a group buy on STi panel filters
