boost with dawes
Hello,
have fitted dawes to my 1996 wrx wagon. Its great was just wondering if anyone could help to improve it.
I cant reach my boost target in the lower gears. If i turn the boost up too much i overboost in the higher gears. Is this normal.
Also is there anyway to control the spiking. Have the shortest pipe possible but it still spikes thus overshooting the tartget and then settling to a lower level less than the target.

Not when a Dawes is fitted - now the ECU isn't controlling boost.
Its not the Dawes thats the problem with lower boost in lower gears, its due to less engine load in lower gears not being able to produce boost quick enough.
For example, if the dawes is set to give 1 bar in 5th, it'll allow the turbo to get to 1 bar as soon as possible. If you have a laggy turbo that only can make 1 bar @4000 rpm, then thats where it'll come in. Problem is that it'll make 1 bar @ 4000rpm in 5th, but in 1st gear may not have the time to make 1 bar at all, due to less engine load hence less time to achieve boost
