Just brought my first scoob and have an extra ****!
It's a 1.8 Gl wagon and at the side of the gear **** it has another lever which is some sort of high low ratio thing? anyone tell me what this does and how it works and what i might use it for? Having driven 250 miles bringing the car back home it drives perfectly well without it being touched but its just the curiosity that is setting free! This lever/**** is set to high and underneath has a sticker giving the locations that it can be in ie high/low also on the sticker it says to not move unless foot is on the clutch ....
Any help would be appreciated as i dont have a clue

ey up Tammy, congrats on the purchase, sounds like you are rebuilding it though looking at the wanted section!
The lever is for setting you gear ratio to high and low as you said. High ratio is for everyday driving same as a bog standard gear box whereas the low ratio will really drop the gearing, this is for hill starts, towing and bad weather/snow. It will probably tell you more in your handbook but unless you are pulling a caravan
you can just leave it in high otherwise you'll just be redlining it all the time. Off the top of my head i think fifth gear in the low setting is the same as third in the high
Enjoy
