Overboost - what sort of damage can it do?
I wondered what exactly a dawes device does? my mate has a v5 type r and he want to increase boost - i though they only reduced boost. If he increases boost will he increase chance of fuel surge or overboost (neither of which is good).
Any help appreciated.

I had fuel-cut due to overboost on my Stiv3 so i know the feeling.
If you ignore it the mechanical shock is such that it must be detrimental to the engine and Transmission in the end. If you keep off the gas, and hence boost, I guess it will last for ever as it won't occure. What a bore though!
Get it fixed, and try the sinple things first like boost control valve cleaning etc before the £££££££££££££££ stuff (as I did).
Fixed mine with an £800 Blitz boost controller, runs 1.31 bar, totally smooth all the way to 8200, and has done for 2 years now.
Good luck,
