Talking What Coolant

Hi i had to change the Radiator in my97 WRX import, the coolant in it was bright green, once replacing this i changed the coolant for one supplied by halfords, it was pink? is this ok? what should i use? cheers

Redline water wetter and distilled water is excellent but I dont think it offers much in the way of anti freeze properties. Not a problem here in australia but might be an issue for you guys over there...but that aside, it offers excellent corrosion protection and amazing cooling properties.

Most antifreezes are ethylene glycol based, but it is the difference in the corrosion additives that governs the colour. The corrosion additives are generally not mixable and if they are mixed wheras your engine wont freeze the corrosion resistance is reduced. Certainly blue and pink antifreezes are not compatible, not sure about mixing pink and the Subaru yellow colour ones. Best to stick to the Subaru stuff I would have thought, if not make sure you flush the system fully before changing colours if you know the pink stuff is OK...
