Default Dawes device on an 03 WRX

Hello! I am potentially interested in one of these for my car but wondered if there is anything that i should look out for/be careful of etc etc. I realise that i obviously shouldnt go too high but was wondering if anybody else here had done it and if so how they find them.....

Thanks

Neil.

the only thing you have to look out for is not turn the boost up too high because you will blow the turbo or run too lean which will melt the pistons.im currently buying a electronic boost contro.that way you dont have to have it on max boost all the time.ie. turbo/engine will last longer.

yeah thats what i thought, the turbo is a TD04 so i am of the understanding that it can cope "safely" with 1.2 bar, i was thinking of turning it up to 1.1bar, from 0.95 which is standard until i have the cash available to TEK3 the car........

would that be a sensible way to go?

Heres a link to a thread i asked i while ago-

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=326122

The post by Nunsom(8th one down) makes it seem as if it is a fairly safe mod(without going silly)

Another manual boost control that looks good is the dual stage one by Dawes

http://www.j-w-racing.co.uk/acatalog...ontroller.html

You will get the best spool up with this, basically a good "kick" of power-what you dont get with the electronic ones-it can be set up to run low boost for economy(or for when the wifes driving it)-ie lets say 0.6bar-and with the press of a button it can run 1.2bar,which will make it fly.
Obviously you will need a boost gauge and knocklink to monitor for anything going belly up-theres a group by on at the mo for £122 for a knocklink in the Group by forum.

Hope this helps
