Handbrake cable - import same as uk, or not?

Handbrake cable - import same as uk, or not?
Does anyone know if the hand brakes cables are the same between uk and imported cars. Mine is jap 94 wrx sti.
Alot of fun hinges on this as its for an MOT, and if I dont get this right beforehand then NBOII will be out the window.
Any help appreciated!
