Ive got a 93wrx , and i was running 14.5 - 15psi (approx 1bar) boost, which is just under the boost cut limit , which i believe is 15.5psi on a std.

i just had a dawes MBC and a Prodrive backbox fitted... i run like that for about 12months....my clutch was changed when i changed the engine, and it was the original .. it had been on the car the 3 years ive it.

Ive recently changed the engine to a 94wrx RA, ive just got a full decat now, and that hits about 14psi, which im happy with.

Std boost for a 93/94 wrx is .75bar peak at .8bar ...

ive read many times on here that its safe to go to 1.2bar, but you will need a boost cut defender.

When i was setting up my MBC i was hitting 1.5, but needless to say it didnt leave it there, but hell, it almost snapped my neck in two....!! it was fun for those few short blasts whilst i got it set right.

Invest in a Boost gauge, and AFR meter at the minimum if you are thinking about up'ing the boost tho', so you can monitor what happening.....others will recommend a 'knock link' too, i havent got one of those (thats not saying i dont recommend one)

Hope this gives you something to go out ..

Frank

The MY93 WRX has the TD05-16G turbo fitted as standard. With regards to modifying your car what is its state of tune at the moment? The best route to follow would be a Full Decat followed by a scoobyecu which will allow safer running on UK Optimax fuel as at present the ECU will be set to run on 100ron fuel as the car is of JDM origin. The scoobyecu will also give the benefit of a higher boost target but with improved ignition/fuel maps which is safer than the current JDM map. As far as monitoring is concerned the first on the list is the biggest priority-being the Knocklink, followed by a boost gauge and Lambdalink

Cheers
