Hairy Boy

Are there any short cuts to get the CO level down to fox the dreaded SVA gestapo boys on my imported 95 WRX? They have given me various dalers dealers names and phone numbers to fix it but they all seem to want to "leave the car with them and pick it up later" !!!!! yeah right mate shall I just give you the blank cheque now then? My CO level is 0.7 at best after i took the air filter out, disconnected the battery for a day on someones advice but it didn't do the trick. Some of the garages I've spoken to want stupid money to even look at it and the main dealer act as if I've propositioned their daughter when Imention the word IMPORTED, shock horror? Are there any cheeky tricks to bring the levels down before I take it to my mates analyser on tuesday for him to play with it? Failing that does anyone know any reliable and honest scooby tuners in or around the Southampton area? Also the rocker cover leaks so I look like I'm at Santa Pod with an engine on fire, how embarrassing but that's another story I've only got a week to get the car through it's SVA emitions test then I shall strip the rocker down for the third time (I'm getting quite good at the job now!!) ps think I may give up and buy ford escort
