power supply for knocklink
I am about to fit a knocklink and boost gauge to a MY99 and presently intend to feed cables from engine compartment into the cabin via a route just above the downpipe. Once into the cabin I hope to position both gauges on the right hand side of the steering wheel.
My question is regards the following;
1. Is there an ignition switched feed that goes into the back of the fusebox that I can use to take a +12v feed from for the knocklink rather than going all the way to the back of the cigar lighter? If so what colour wire am I looking for?
2. Do I need to put a fuse in line for the knocklink or boost gauge light and if so what rating?
I have looked at the usual sites regarding the fitting of these but just need to find an answer particularly to 1 as I can work out 2 if needs be!
Thanks
Richard

The cigarette lighter (only posh cars have cigar lighters!) works when the "accessory" position on the ignition switch is used, so the unit will be live if you are just parked up listening to the radio for instance. You could possibly use a wire to the clock (which lights up only when the ignition is fully on) I have done this in my 03STi The unit will be then protected by the fuse in that circuit.

Thanks for that, I might use a multimeter to check the feed of the wires from the back of the fuse box as the clock is in the main display of the MY99 version not in a top panel like the 03 version.
Any other suggestions from other members would be appreciated as makes the job quicker
By the way I think my car is posh!!!!!!!!

Whoops! I forgot that the clock was in the main unit as you say - and I used to have a 99MY! The Knocklink in my 99 was wired into the ECU by Bob Rawle so I have no idea which wire he spliced into. As you say, a good prod around with a multi-meter is on the cards?
