Default Advice on Nitrous anti-lag system parts

I am in the process of building a nitrous kit as an anti-lag system for my scoob and wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding using the manifold pressure to switch off the nitrous when boost comes on around 2/3.

Has anyone got any idea as to what I can use as the switch? I think I'm looking at around 10 psi to switch it off. Oil pressure switch?

Oh, and dont panic, I'm testing everything first on my other car to get to grips with NOS.

Any advice/guidnace is most welcome, even if negative.

www.rswww.com

do some pressure activated switches, consider only using it at WOT as well!

Will have a look later. I'm going to rig it up to the TPS so that it picks up WOT and have a master arming switch on the dash. I'm hoping that whatever pressure switch I get will give a smooth transition from nitrous to boost.

I will report back.

I wouldnt connect to the TPS as the ecu may not like this, i'd either fit a switch under the dash on the pedal or from a bracket next to the linkage.

The guy who is supplying my kit also supplies a WOT switch and bracket, so I may just purchase one of these as well.

Cheers for the advice,

Wayne.

Couldn't you get a nitrous controller and just have a timed shot of say 1-2secs on WOT? That should be enough to get you moving

I suppose so, but the entire kit is only costing me £200, so the controller seems a little too expensive to start off with. I will be trying the system on a Cav GSI 16V to see the result before investing in a second system for the scoob.

Also, the 1-2 second shot may not blend very well when the boost comes in, hence the pressure switch to cut the extra fuel and nitrous.

Good thought though!!

remember the jet supposedly doubles in size on a turbo car..

I really would use anything bigger than 25bhp as antilag..

150shot for anything else

Must brush the dust off the bottle.

I still reckon that a 25 shot is too much for an anti-lag N2O set up. If you can get hold of a few jets it'd be worth experimenting, but it's gonna be difficult to get the transistion to be smooth with a 25 shot, IMHO.

David Vizard recommends a 10 shot in a turbo Mini with a 1275 engine which he says is equivalent to around 7psi. Maybe a 15 would work better on the Impreza, it depends on exactly what you're trying to achieve, explosive power from down low or just better pick-up from low revs for every day driving.

Let us know how you get on, I've considered using a similar set-up myself for a while but never actaully got further than thinking about it

Yep, wanting it as a daily driver that simply picks up better so I'm hoping the smaller amount is right for 2 reasons. Firstly, I dont want to be using loads of nitrous, and second, I want it to be a smooth transition from nitrous to boost, almost seamless if possible.

I have just ordered my kit with 4 jet sizes 25/50/75/100, but these are for the Cav at first. I will make some jets up when the time comes for the scoob!!
