Question Is my fuel pump dieing?

Started car this pm, been parked up for bout an hour so still warm, turned key, hear fuel pump as usual, started it and it started to make this orrible noise. Kind of a gurgling but did kinda think it sounded a bit like a plane flying by some way off, and idle speed dropped a bit.
Tried it again the sorta gurgling noise is now there when you turn the key and the fuel pump primes, though a lot less noise. Starts, slight noise for a couple of seconds, but then quiet as usual and seems ok.
So I guess it sounds like air is getting into the fuel pump/system somehow when the enging is shut off?
Tank is full, filled up earlier 2day and no mods.

Thanks.

when my fuel pump was on its way out it would make a noise like a ball bearing sliding down a steel tube on priming, it also hummed (electrical not smell ) in the boot, bought a second hand 1 from Grade A, now primes very quitely, no humming.
