Starter motor problems-94/95RA
Every so often, my engine fails to turn over at start up?
The symptoms are present hot or cold, standard fully charged batt or new batt. Sometimes when i turn the key i hear the fuel pump pressurising the system, which is normal, then a clunk from the starter which to me means that the soleniod is engaging but then nothing! quietness, no turny.
Has anyone had any similar problems?
could they also suggest a remedy, PWEEEEEEEZE lee

sound, like one field coil or a section or sections of the armarture/ commutator have gone open circuit.. or a brush has failed
you get a start condition when a good section is passing current, and when the starter disengages a bad section lies accross one of the brushes no start condition..
whip sth starter out and visit any good autoelectic shop, they will be able to test and advise...
or if you are tech minded, you could ala mr haynes give the starter a strip and clean

cheers mart, have got an excellent autosparkie not far from me, so will get him to overhaul it. Did have a guy suggest a bad earth lead, but have removed and cleaned bat neg and straps, but it still happens very occasionally.
