Default Play in wastegate?

Ive got my turbo off and noticed that the wastegate has a small amount of play in it. I would expect it to be firmly shut or is this normal when the actuator is disconnected from its vacuum hose? The car didnt seem to have any problem holding boost. The actuator arm doesnt appear to be adjustable.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Andy

The wastegate valve should be held shut by the actuator regardless of whether or not anything else is connected. You can open the 'gate by hand, basically acting against the spring in the actuator, but there shouldn't be free play at the valve.

Yea thats what I thought. Unfortunately there is play there, maybe due to wear in the mechanism? Just wondered if anyone else had seen this before and if there was an easy fix or am I going to have to spend some money. Doh! I could pronounce the bend in the actuator arm slightly to take out the play but maybe playing with fire as dont want it to jam. I cant see an obvious way to shim it.
