How can you tell if a cat has gone on an sti7, what are the obvious signs?

Tinkling, rattling, and other noises that can't be associated with the heatshields. CEL illuminated with P0420 "cat inefficiency" error reported. Eventual MOT emissions test failure.

Visual cat failure test can be found here, although this is on a Ford Ka, not a Subaru.
