Unhappy What should I do

I have a my02 wrx with de cat ( with sports cat) EL headers and a ECU TEK

I have a knocklink and hitting orange when I give wot in 4th the boost is hitting 1 bar in 2nd and third and 1.27 and holding 1.24 in forth

The misses is sure she has seen big red twice.. when looking at the knock correction on the psi3 it seems to go from 0 to 9 and when im hitting orange its saying around 7

I have took the car back to the mappers and he said its fine ( to be fair I do trust him, he has been very fair with me ) BUT it scares the s***t out of me and spoiles the fun and Its putting me off track days etc

I have asked around other mappers but quite rightly they want to do the whole thing again which is going to cost me £400 ish ( I understand this, I would do the same in their position)

what should I do, ignor the KL or put my hand in my pocket and get it re done

If any one in the worcester area has a set of det cans and wants to earn a quick buck please PM me

thanks guys

First and foremost, DON'T IGNORE THE KNOCKLINK!!! Other than that...

Do you know what your AFR is doing?

Is your MAF sensor OK?

Are there any splits in any of the pipes after the MAF sensor?

I will give the car a run asap and tell you ( thats if the psi3 unit gives that info)

Im not that techi regards the car. Its a MY02 so the maff should not be that much of a problem should it, Idle is fine

Im thinking I will shell out and let BR developments have a look

guys AFR is saying 0.76 no lower.. took the car for a 100 mile blast, on any back road when you are feeling the power on, I get no lights at all, the car drives like a dream but when i get on the dual tracks and really open it up using wot i get 2 greens then a occational orange .. only in forth at 5rpm upwards, boost is behaving and there is a uprated fuel pump in the car

any one with any thorghts?

If your AFR is 0.76v during WOT, that's way too low. Should be more like ~0.90v...

My money's on either the MAF (although, supposed to be bulletproof for your MY....?) or a split somewhere in one of the pipes after the MAF sensor...

Agreed on the MAF.

Did you have the map before fitting the headers?

air charge temp could be loads higher at max boost in 5th. this could cause det.

AFAIK the S.E.C.S AFR reading is how stoichimetric the ratio is, not volts. On closed loop it always hovers around 1.00. Correct me if I am wrong then the smaller the number the richer the fuelling?

Does your mapper use det cans?

Red face

cheers guys, on the psi3 unit it hovers around 1 on idle and yes all the dp/headers fuel pump went on before the re map

i thought this was right, he uses a Stethoscope looking thing while mapping the car

if it was the maff would in not do it in all gears?

Not necessarily. Lower gears = lower load = lower boost = less air, so the lean mixture (assuming it is lean) wouldn't be as lean as in higher gears.

Have you checked all the pipes for splits...?

Judge - that makes sence to me I will have a look

Midlife - Thats what I wanted to hear , because the guy who mapped my car did say the KL might be set too sensitive as he couldn't hear any det, and as the car was done on the rollers if it was detting I would assume you would hear it outside the car

I think I will keep putting the money in the pot for new turbo and injectors and get it re mapped when they go in, but for now I have a service in 1k miles so I will get him to have a look then (fingers crossed the car will last till then)

IIRC I saw EDCASE with a simular post with his new age about the knock link sensitivity and he had very simular mods

thanks again guys
