Question (!) warning light, what does it mean?

I have a MY97 STi3 and therefore no handbook and am asking this question.

While braking briskly, but not particularly hard, for a roundabout the (!) warning light briefly flashed on (top left in the little cluster of lights in the top centre of the dashboard). It was only very brief because I did not have chance to see what the pictogram was, I found that when I got to work and turned the ignition on and off again.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the meaning/significance of this light and what may triger it etc.

thanks,

from a slightly concerned madmoog

Thanks Peanuts, I thought that after posting, easy to check anyway! Perhaps I didn't release it completely, perhaps I'm stil asleep.

im not 100% sure but it may also double up as a warning light for your brake fluid level, check it, when cornering the fluid will swish to 1 side maybe triggering the fluid level warning light

Yep it will be low brake fluid.. also the indicator sometimes get stuck..

Check your brake pads still have meat on them if the fluid is low..

You could also check the "float thing" in the brake fluid filler isn't sticking to the side...
