Question tappety tap tap tap (i think)

When sitting in the snow the other week for a couple of hours, my97 started making a tapping sound. When the engine is switched off the tapping noise continues fo a second or so. It has done it sonce after being stuck intraffic or after a long (hard) journey.

Just had my 72month service, but don't quite trust the garage that did it.

Any ideas?

Mine used to tap a lot.. switched to Motul 300V 15W50 oil and no more tapping..

Could also be the injectors and you just never noticed it before / have become more paronoid..

gotta get more sleep - the tapping in my head is getting worse! But seriously the tapping is pretty loud and and quite worrying when you switch the engine off as it's all you can hear..... maybe the engine oil the garage used was too thin - i will find out.

Drain it and fill with Motul 300V 15W50 or Castrol RS 10W60 or if you cannot get anything else Mobil 1 Motorsport 15W50 from Halfords.. you will need 4.5litres..

see if the tapping stops.. either that or take it somewhere and get it checked.
