I've just been under the back of my STI5 to fit a tow hitch, and doing so have noticed that the pressed steel panel that the plastic bumper is fitted too, and holds the number plate is so badly rusted and corroded, that I managed to put my finger through it.(not the main rear panel). Is it normal for Imprezas to suffer from rust? or is it just this one panel. Does anyone know how much this panel costs?

Never noticed any rust on mine m8 and mine is 11 yrs old.

Might just bad luck with that panel on your car.

 

Take your front bumper off and have a look underneath, be exactly the same as the back, almost guaranteed.

 

Is it a problem with those too parts in particular? If I buy a new one, is it gonna do exactly the same again Unless I get it painted properly obviously.
