Temperature inside catalyst?
I´ve just bought a metallic sportscatalyst and the problem is that where the body of the catalyst is welded to the exhaust tube on the inside I can feel a rough edge, which I suspect will obstruct the airflow leaving the cat. My idea is to put some exhaust sealant in there to smooth out the edge. But will the sealant (Holts firegum rated to 1000 degrees celsius or Holts gungum no rating) be able to withstand these temps. without cracking up?
Any help appreciated.

I wouldn't mess with sealant inside the exhaust - especially not before the sports cat. If/when bits dislodge they'll end blocking flow somewhere else....
Why not correct the problem by filing the rough edge away - you know it makes sense

Dowser the edge is not before the cat, if it was it would not hinder airflow. The edge is after the metallic cells where the body of the cat connect to the exhaust tube. The edge is very tall and it would be impossible to even it out with a file and there would be a possibility that I could just file trough the welding. I´ll go the sealant way as it seems like the temp. will get no where near 1000 degrees celsius. I´ll let you know if it blows up
