JDM Speed Limiter - How do I get rid of it???
My "new to me" STi V3 wagon is speed limited to 118 mph. How do I get rid of this limiter??? Do I have to get the ECU reflashed or is there some other way to remove this???
TIA...

speed limiter
you will need a little gearing jobby that fits in line with the speedo cable. jap innovations should have one. in work atm so i don't have the exact address, maybe some other kind person will post it for you. it removes the limiter and makes your 180kph into 180mph. you could also swap dials to read 180mph but you need to be real careful when doing this. if you decide to swap dials get the hairdryer and desert spoons ready

Here in the States, I don't know if they'd know since we don't deal with grey market imports like you guys in the UK.
I am trying to find an STi V4 guage cluster at the moment and if I do there is a local place that will re-calibrate it for MPH instead of KPH. Will this take care of the speed limiter or do I need a converter on the back of the speedo???
How does it recognize the speed???
cheers!

The way I understand it the neadle getting to 180 hits some kind of switch in the speedo face (the limiter).
The gearbox re-calibrates the facia to be mph (8:5 ratio of something) so this effectively moves the limiter to 180 mph, so its not removed just difficult to reach!
Hope thats clear.

speed de-limiter
Hi
Check out www.scoobymania.co.uk. They have that little gearing for 85 pounds. Should work but bring it to a proper garage to get it sorted. Good luck.
