Black box underneath rear of car????

What is the black box underneath the boot on the offside rear between the spare wheel well and the bumper???Its got 4 pipes going into it-on a MY01 bugeye.

Think it is the emissions control canister..

A canister which all the fumes from tank and engine filter through to stop fumes into atmosphere.. classic impreza ones are under the bonnet.
