I'm in desperate need of help.

I own a 1997 subaru impreza wrx sti type-r. V4

For ages now, i've had a real weird problem, with the wheels spinning and sort of fighting for grip when pulling off, all the way up to 5-6 mph.

ESPECIALLY when attempting a 180 degree or 360 degree turn...only when going slow, e.g. 1-5 mph.

Above those speeds it's fine.

I took the car to Interpro in Bristol and they noticed the problem and said they needed to replace the gearbox.

They had one there that had only done 15,000 miles and did it at a nice price for me.

Picked up the car today and it's still doing the exact same problem. Wheels spinning and juddering and almost immpossible to do a 360 degree turn.

Now they are saying that they have no idea what it could be.

PLEASE, i'm absolutely desperate...does anyone here have any idea as to what it could be?

ANY help will be soooooo much appreciated, i'm going mad here...sooo frustrating.

Rear diff?

Just thinking that the new box would have a different front and centre diff.

 

they did suggest that actually, but were not even 50% sure ;0)

How much would a 2nd hand rear diff cost about?

anyone know any good websites to order direct from japan??

I could be wrong, but I coulda sworn I saw someone selling the gear box and diffs off a Type R in the for sale section no more than a week ago???
