mot help emissions

Question

can any body help trying to get my mates car through its mot hes got a 94 wrx it has faled on emissions because the co is too high we have put a new lambda probe on but it didnt help before we go and spend lods of money on a cat i thought i would do some research. p.s it had a back box and center pipe on it when he bought it i think its hks so were not sure if thay have 2 cats on them???? ta.

Try an ECU reset and get the car very hot right before the test. Check for any leaks. Think that year only had a cat in the downpipe, but given the age, it may be dead. Get a catted centre section from a scrappie and try that.

Do a search for ECU reset

Its quite simple. It may not do much though, as the ECU will learn that it has a new sensor reasonably quickly. Worth a shot though.

What was the Co2 reading? As and impoort you are allowed up to 5% where as a UK car is only 0.3% make sure the MOT tester is putting in the correct car.
