Looks like I've got a failing MAF sensor (code 23 - car cutting out all the time) on my UK Turbo MY94.

Having done a search and read a lot of posts, it would seem that I'm looking at a lot of money for a new sensor.

Local dealer says the part no. is 22680AA160 - COMPLETE MAF UNIT @ £220

However, others on this forum seem to suggest that you can use the later type "thin film" sensors - part no. 22794AA010 - JUST THE SENSOR @ £73.51 ............ much cheaper.

Is this second replacement sensor meant for use on MY 99- cars only ??

There seems to be a difference in the number of connecting pins (4 instead of 5)........

Can I just replace the sensor with the newer version or am I looking at replacing the whole unit with the original "hot wire" type sensor ???

hope you can help..........

Steve
