White smoke at tickover. Is my turbo on the way out?
#1
As above. When car is ticking over I get regular white smoke out of the exhaust. Car runs fine. No water in oil or oil in water, may just be the cold weather, but I don't remember it doing it last winter.
If it is on the way out(turbo) can it cause severe damage when it lets go or shall I just wait and see what happens?
Thanks in advance

You could, drive the the car until at running temp, then leave it to tickover for 10 mins, let it cool overnight, then drop off the down pipe before driving again and see if you have oil on the turbine wheel(Look closly). Has cleared up turbo problems for me in the past.

Would the smoke smell of burnt oil though if my turbo was on the way out/any other ways to check? My downpipe was a bitch to remove so wouldn't mind exploring other options before trying that. Thanks for advice though. Taking the turbo air intake off exposes some fins if I rember rightly. Would it be worth checking these?
Am I just being paranoid, as the car pulls like a train.

don't know how this applies for Scoobs, but when the turbo went on my mates 200sx it was a hazey, bluey coloured smoke (wasn't a thick cloud) and it smelt like an Escort Cosworth (everyone of them i see now is p!ssing out smoke!). It was quite a distinctive smell, not quite like burning oil from the engine, but similar
Prob doesn't halp any, but worth a try
